Shampooing a carpet was a method of cleaning that was in demand until around the 70’s decade. Today we have better technology for cleaning. However, we still get asked by prospective clients if their carpets will be shampooed.

Generally, we can consider shampooing a carpet an outdated type of cleaning service. Taking over is a more modern method called deep steam cleaning, also popularly known as hot water extraction. This service dries up significantly quicker than shampooing. Making it a more efficient substitute. Because of this, it is now almost impossible to find information on carpet shampooing. And even harder to find companies that still offer this service.

Deep steam cleaning has a number of pros over carpet shampoo cleaning. First is that the equipment used is lighter, therefore, it is effortless to use. Second, because the service only uses steam, it takes less time to dry out compared to shampooing. Where the carpet will have to be rigorously rinsed to remove rich shampoo layers.

Then, after waiting for the carpet to completely dry up, you will still feel as though the carpet has a sticky residue left over on the surface.

Due to the sticky surface, it’ll now be faster for grime to build upon the carpet which is counterproductive. The chemicals on the shampoo will also over time stain the carpet with a yellow like effect.

Most modern companies will only resort to shampoo carpet cleaning for the worst of situations. The carpet has to be very filthy, soiled with thick grime and almost blackened by stains for over a number of years.

Even though these are justifiable reasons to resort to a shampoo cleaning service. It is still beyond question. As there is nothing deep steam cleaning can’t fix!
