A lot of the service inquiries we get asked the question of if our cleaning methods include shampooing. Carpet shampoo washing used to be a very popular service from way back in the 1970s.

A more modern cleaning method has taken over shampooing a carpet in current times. This is called deep steam cleaning or hot water extraction which has become more popular because it saves more time on drying. Because of this, not a lot of companies provide carpet shampooing nowadays.

Deep steam cleaning is actually more efficient in a lot of different aspects. It is less complicated to use as the equipment is usually lightweight. Also, no more waiting for a long time to for the carpet to dry as it only uses steam whereas carpet shampooing would require thorough cleansing with water to remove excess shampoo layers that soaked into the carpet.

Even after the carpet has dried up. It will still be left with a sticky feeling due to the remnants of shampoo that is left over.

Because of this sticky residue, it will be easier for dirt to accumulate on the carpet so it’ll need to be cleaned more often. The chemicals in the shampoo will also later stain the carpet with a yellow like effect.

In recent times, only the worst case scenarios call for companies to do carpet shampoo cleaning. For example, if the carpets are almost black with stains and grime has accumulated for years.

Generally speaking, the above conditions can justify the use of shampoo cleaning method. But nonetheless, even carpets in such state can easily be cleaned to a new like state with deep steam cleaning.
