Most of our calls for bookings end up in conversations about whether our carpet cleaning services include shampooing. This type of cleaning service used to be a popular method until around the 70’s decade.

A more modern cleaning method has taken over shampooing a carpet in current times. This is called deep steam cleaning or hot water extraction which has become more popular because it saves more time on drying. Because of this, not a lot of companies provide carpet shampooing nowadays.

Comparing the two cleaning methods, deep steam cleaning would be regarded as a better option for so many reasons. One would be the equipment used is much lighter making it easier to use and carry around. The other is that it saves a lot of time as it dries up quickly. The method only uses steam. If shampooed, thick layers of the soap will seep into the carpet requiring repeated and thorough washing. Therefore it will take a long time to dry up.

After the carpets are clean and what seems like a lifetime has gone by for the drying to take place the carpet will feel like they have a sticky residue left over.

It will now become easier for dirt to accumulate on the carpet once it’s sticky therefore you’ll have to clean it more often. The chemicals used in the process will also give the carpet a yellowish stain in the future.

In this day and age, only the worst carpet scenarios will call for shampoo cleaning. Such as a thick dark muddy stain, thick grime and a carpet that pretty much looks black and has been for years.

While it can be justified for carpets in these state to be shampooed, deep steam cleaning can still easily restore carpets while the above conditions are present.
